WeAreGriot brought you another night of Ireland’s best TaLkAtiVes specially commissioned as a live, online show for The Lock Inn. 10 hand-picked poets and rappers went head-to-head in a classic poetry SLAM style competition, all slam rules applied - No music, no props, no reading, must be your own work!

Sam Zamani is a Nigerian spoken word artist with a core wrought from philosophy and hip hop. He prides himself in having a unique style of simplicity and storytelling.

He is also the reigning Talkatives champion!

Hi , my artist name is Snook! I am part of a duo recently set up with a friend and together we are called Snook General.
I enjoy writing music, composing stories and telling them to my best extent possible.

After a long break from writing I seem to have picked up where I left off and I’m excited to show what I have lined up!
Elizabeth McGeown

Elizabeth McGeown is from Belfast, Northern Ireland and has recently featured in publications including Banshee, Abridged and The Blue Nib. As a spoken word artist she is a three-time All-Ulster slam champion, has been a finalist in the All-Ireland Poetry Slam four years in a row, and represented Northern Ireland at the 2019 Hammer & Tongue UK Slam Finals in the Royal Albert Hall.

Sam Noonan

Sam is a writer based in Wicklow. His first collection of poems titled 'Shenanigans' explores ideas and questions from yesterday, today and tomorrow. The layout of the book is a conversation through poetry and painting with Andrew Hopkins. The book is available to buy in Bridge Street Books in Wicklow Town and Marrowbone Books in the Liberties

A new and upcoming artist to the Rap scene. Born in London, England and Raised in Waterford, Ireland. He began mastering his craft from a young age, researching different forms of lyricism, poetry, and music. As the years progressed "goodfella" saw that there was something very wrong with this society/reality we live in, and if he chose to continue down this rabbit hole, he deemed it his mission to amplify the global consciousness of the human population by portraying deep, meaningful and possibly subliminal messages through his words and music.

Gaius Bala is a final year student of Medical Laboratory Science, from Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto, Nigeria. He started his poetic Odyssey two years back, and has performed in the first open Mic event organized in Sokoto State; an event target to speak against the plight of the Almajiri child. Ever since, he has performed in and out of campus.
WeAreGriot

WeAreGriot are a poetry collective comprising of Dagogo Hart, Felispeaks, and Samuel Yakura. They specialize in delivering poetry performances and unique show productions.
They arrived into the Dublin art scene in early 2019 and have contributed with their "Talkatives” along with theatre productions like Boychild.
Their shows range from emotional and educative plays to innovative and entertaining performances.
